A single pillar stands tall. A man can stand on top of the pillar, and feel tall. Surround the pillar with other pillars and we can build structure on top, and even around them. The original pillar becomes a part of something bigger. The structure can now hold people, knowledge, and statues. It's beautiful.
Standing alone is a statement. Bring a community together and you can accomplish so much more. Suddenly, events are possible, laughter rings loudly and discussion happens naturally. It's perfect. Even when quarrels happen it's all about learning patience and knowing how other people decide to act is everything to do with them and not you.
There is a greater potential for long lasting structure with pillars and no weaknesses. The weakness of a single pillar can cause the whole structure to fall.
Similarly, it is true that the weakness of a single man can cause dissolution of the group.
