The world is ours! Seriously, anything, but not everything.
We have many different potential futures. For example, in one of them we control the world’s supply of gold and in another we’re the president of Kongo. The choices we make today decide what tomorrow will look like for us. Anything we can think of, we can create.
Life is like a movie. There are many different endings and the plot is always changing with our minds. The movie doesn’t even have to be contiguous. The first ten years of life don’t have to influence the next ten, the last twenty don’t have to be affected by the first twenty, and the middle thirty don’t have to be influenced by the first thirty. We can constantly rewrite the story. All it takes is deciding to lead a new life.
As an example of this, look at Tony Robbins who was at one point a janitor, and now has a net worth of six-hundred million. He wrote books, recorded tapes and now does live events with thousands of people. How’s that for the story of a former janitor? Reminds me of Good Will Hunting. If you haven’t seen the movie, it’s one of the greatest of all time, but the similarity here is that a janitor realizes he has greater potential by using his mind to achieve new heights.
There are other examples, like famous hip hop artists like Kendrick Lamar who came from Compton and was in a gang in his early life surrounded by people whose lives became wrapped in illicit activities, fell into addiction, or ended. He came out of it differently, and instead used his circumstances as fuel for his craft. He wrote a new story for himself.
We don’t know the ending of someone’s story until they decide to write it. Therefore, we can conclude that we are able to achieve future successes only if we decide to achieve. Our future depends on our present choices more than any past choices. We can film our story however we would like. What movie are you making?
