If it’s meant to be, it will flow.

Sometimes we might experience a lot of difficulty in trying to achieve something that we think we need for ourselves. Surely we can find an example in our own lives where we might encounter difficulties with something that seem to stack on top of each other indicating that maybe that’s not the right direction. An example in recent past for me was booking a train for the evening, and then deciding to leave earlier than expected. When we went to the counter to get it changed, it should have been simple, however we ended by having spoken with 4 representatives and two managers who were all in shock that nothing was working. Additionally, when I went to change it in their web app, there were problems there as well.

At first, it appeared possible to change, but when I went to click to change, the connectivity dropped. By the time I was able to get back online, it was no longer available, and the following train became fully booked. All in all, we kept our original train. There was a point where I felt like I was forcing the issue, and I should have listened to my inner voice.

However, there’s a balance between walking uphill and walking in the wrong direction. The train story is represented by walking in the wrong direction, where something like physical fitness is walking uphill. Sure, it may be difficult to get ourselves to commit and persist with our physical wellness, but that sort of difficulty is something we should push through.

We should persist through things that we can control, and accept the things that we cannot change. There’s a prayer that this lesson reminds me exists. When I was little, my parents shared this with me.

It’s the Serenity Prayer:

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, and Wisdom to know the difference.
