Florence is a dream. The people, the places, and the cuisine all make me feel at home. The architecture is incredible. Noticing buildings and plazas that have been here for hundreds of years is something I'm not accustomed to. There is real thought into the structure; it's built as a work of art.
The plazas are the best part because they're like the parks we have in the US, but with more people and dining areas. Because the traffic in Central Florence is mostly people walking through, the city feels metropolitan despite having three-hundred thousand people. It makes the stone warm, and the light dances across the walls/buildings. And the people! Everybody seems to be enjoying themselves. There's laughter everywhere, and the expression shared between friends is jovial. The cuisine is exceptional, and people dine for pleasure instead of just for a meal. Meeting new people is easier here, the people are open and happy to see new people.
Florence is easily the greatest city I've ever visited! And, Italia won Euro 2020 last night, which leaves a lasting impression of a city full of explosive excitement.
